Tim started his energy career in Texaco’s Land Department in Los Angeles before transitioning into upstream international petroleum negotiations with major oil companies which involved analyzing petroleum legislation, determining salient commercial factors and negotiating the final terms and conditions of exploration and production contracts in numerous countries. He became the USAID Subject Matter Expert on Petroleum Matters for the Government of the Republic of Liberia and provided legal advice on upstream contracts and drafted a new Petroleum Law.
Tim negotiated the first natural gas sales contract in Egypt which ignited his interest in developing, constructing and operating natural gas-fired power generation facilities in both the USA and overseas. He worked on behalf of large energy companies drafting and negotiating, inter alia, EPC contracts, Interconnection Agreements, Operation & Maintenance Agreements and Power Purchase Agreements and has integrated that knowledge with his upstream experience on Purchase and Sale Agreements, Farmout Agreements and JOAs. His transactional practice is once again focused on title examination, curative and due diligence efforts regarding oil and gas assets.
Prior to joining the firm, Tim was the Legal Advisor to an African-based oil and gas company with producing assets in West Africa.
