Practice Description
John represents upstream and midstream energy companies in a variety of transactional matters. His practice primarily focuses on title examination and due diligence related to acquisitions and divestitures of oil & gas assets.
Prior to joining the firm, John worked as an independent petroleum landman and project coordinator for Holland Services, where he led title and due diligence projects across multiple basins for publicly traded and privately held E&P companies. Upon admission to the Texas Bar, John began his career as an oil and gas attorney at a private equity backed E&P startup.
Representative Engagements
- Prepared numerous original, drilling, supplemental, acquisition, and division order title opinions in connection with the exploration and development of oil, gas, and mineral properties
- Represented buyers and sellers in the acquisition and divestiture of (i) producing and non-producing mineral interests; (ii) operated and non-operated working interests; and (iii) various royalty interests
- Assisted clients in the drafting, reviewing, and/or negotiation of oil and gas contracts, including oil and gas leases, conveyances, purchase and sale agreements, participation and operating agreements, and mortgages
