Practice Description
Matt represents upstream and midstream energy companies in a variety of transactional matters. His practice focuses on title examination, curative, and due diligence efforts relating to the disposition of producing and nonproducing oil and gas assets. He has represented multiple Fortune 500 companies and startups and provides daily operational counsel to land and business development departments at major operators.
Prior to joining the firm, Matt worked as a landman for Carla Petroleum, Inc. and Bryson Kuba, LP, during which time he supervised a field crew, the preparation of title materials, and assisted with the resolution of a variety of land and leasing issues. He has managed numerous leasing efforts and contract negotiations with a variety of mineral owners, including neighborhood associations and commercial entities.

- Prepared numerous original, drilling, supplemental, and division order title opinions in conjunction with the exploration of oil, gas, and mineral properties
- Represented buyers and sellers in the acquisition and divestiture of producing, nonproducing, and proven undeveloped mineral interests and leases in multi-party transactions
- Advised oil and gas companies on acquiring and operating mineral leases and interests
